Summary:   

Ron Akin is president of Collegiate Management Services, LP and has over 30 years of property management experience.  Prior to working with Collegiate Management Services, LP, Mr. Akin was Senior Vice President with Johnstown Management Company where his portfolio included approximately 162,500 beds in 175 residential communities distributed throughout 12 states and 30 cities.  He began his real estate career in 1974 as a property manager for Gold Crown Properties in Lincoln, Nebraska and eventually became a vice president overseeing the operations of 40 properties with 11,000 beds.  He supervised numerous student housing projects including those in Nebraska, Illinois, Louisiana, and Florida.  Mr. Akin is a CPM (Certified Property Manager) and served of the Board of Directors of the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas in 1989.  It is this interest in the welfare of students and his teams vast experience in management and student housing that led him to begin the CMS venture in 2001.  He attended the University of Nebraska where he majored in electrical engineering with a minor in finance. He earned his Certified Property Manager designation through the Institute of Real Estate Management in 1983. Mr. Akin served on the board of the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas in 1989.
